Nixon
I checked the time on my cell and leaned against the wall. The desert heat was not in any way helping my already-tense mood and irritated disposition. A guy walked by, flicking his cigarette into the dirt. Note to self: you know you’re tense as hell when you’re halfway tempted to grab said cigarette and suck the nicotine dry from the remains.
And I didn’t even smoke.
Shhhit.
My head hurt, my muscles were sore, and Trace was pissed. I closed my eyes and leaned back against the building.
“Hey there.” A flirty voice interrupted my self-inflicted torture session. I opened one eye, then two. A blond-haired girl in six-inch heels and something I can only assume at one point use to be a shirt, hanging over her shoulder, walked into my personal space. Her shirt-dress thing barely met her thighs.
“Yes?” I kept my sunglasses on. If I took them off and glared, she’d probably run screaming down the street, and I wasn’t into scaring females… at least not in that way. I knew I looked downright pissed as hell.
“Just thought you looked lonely.” She lifted her shoulder and offered a teasing smile. Did that really work on other guys?
“You thought wrong,” I said simply. “I’m holding the wall up like Samson.”
“Samson?” She looked around as if waiting for another man to appear.
“From the Bible,” I clarified.
“The what?”
“Gotta love Vegas,” I muttered under my breath. “Look, I don’t want any.”
“Any what?” She ran a manicured nail down my chest, biting down on her lip at the same time. I could only imagine her point was to get me to stare at her lips, but all I felt was irritation. Damn Chase and Mil. I just wanted to go to bed, but I needed to talk with him before tomorrow.
“Sex.” My voice clipped. “I. Don’t. Want. Any.”
“But” She twirled a piece of blond- hair in her fingers.
“I’m gay.”
“Right.” She snorted.
“I’m into men.”
“Oh really?” She closed the distance between us. Just as I was ready to seriously put my hands on her and push, I felt an arm wrap around my shoulder.
“Hey there, hot stuff.” Tex said in a low voice as his hand grabbed my ass, cupping it with a little too much enthusiasm. “You ready?”
I ground my teeth together and forced a smile. “Yup.”
“Oh…” The girl stepped back. “Um, sorry, you guys, uh, enjoy your night.” She pushed past Tex so fast I was afraid she was going to teeter off her heels and get hit by a taxi.
“Tex.” I seethed.
“Hmm?” He took off his sunglasses and tilted his head as the girl hurried away.
“You can take your hand off my ass now.”
“Why? Afraid you like it too much?”
I pushed against him.
“Just embrace your feelings!” He shouted, earning the attention of a family walking by with their two little kids.
I grabbed him by the front of his shirt and threw him few feet away from me, trying my damnedest not to smile.
“Admit it. You keep me around for comic relief.” Tex nodded with a smirk.
“I admit nothing.” I lost the war against smiling and started laughing. “But I do keep your ass away from Campisi, so remember that next time you start yelling about me being your lover.”
“True.” Tex grinned. “Oh, and P.S., don’t knock it till you try it.”
“P.S.,” I repeated in the same voice. “Still pissed at you for screwing over my sister.”
“Yeah well.” Tex sobered. “It’s for the best.”
“Breaking her heart and bringing in whores is what’s best for her?”
Tex lifted his hands into the air. “Look, I didn’t say my methods were sound or that they were intelligent, just let us deal with it, okay? We’re big kids.”
“Kids.” I snorted. “That about sums it up.”
A town car pulled up next to the curb. Chase got out and then held out his hand to Mil. My eyes narrowed; she looked different. Happier.
Her mom had just died, and she’d survived a bombing.
And she was smiling like the Taliban had just declared world peace.
Chase gripped her so tight that I saw the white of his knuckles.
I tilted my head, still watching them when Tex said. “Dude, you get laid?”
“Tex,” I snapped. “Go get something for their luggage.”
“But
“Go.”
Tex flipped me off, but ended up jogging over to the main entrance while I inspected both Mil and Chase. “I’m not saying this to be an ass
“Here we go.” Mil crossed her arms.
Chase waited.
I licked my lips and tried to appear indifferent. “But if you guys start screwing each other now, I may have to shoot one or both of you. It’s not the time to play house, got it?”
“Play house,” Chase repeated in a deadpan voice as he dipped his free hand into his back pocket, most likely clenching a pair of brass knuckles.
“I know it’s your honeymoon,” I continued. “But this [P1] little scenario you’ve got going on with the whole hot and cold is going to have to wait until everyone’s safe. So Chase, keep it in your pants for once in your life, and Mil, stop trying to seduce the poor kid, alright? It’s like dangling a damn fry in front of a seagull.”
“Who’s a fry?” Tex asked, pulling the luggage cart with him.
“Mil.”
“Are we eating dinner or something? Because I have to admit,” Tex leaned against the cart, “I’m freaking starving.” He eyed Chase and Mil. “Then again, I’m sure you both are too. All those extracurricular really take it out of ya.”
Chase took off his sunglasses, his face twisting in irritation and annoyance, no smile. Nothing. He was pissed.
“Chase,” I said slowly. “You know I’m right. You’re the best I have. I need your focus to be on The Family. Your family. Then you can screw all you want, okay?”
Mil looked like she wanted to punch me in the face. Chase took a step forward, but she stopped him.
“Good talk.” I exhaled. “Chase, I’ll see you down in the bar in a half-hour, okay? We have business to discuss. Mil, you can go find the girls. They’re having dinner out by the pool.”
Nobody moved.
After a few seconds of tense silence where I was pretty sure Chase was trying to convince himself not to strangle me to death, Tex cleared his throat and pointed to the luggage. “You guys need help, then?”
“Yeah,” Chase croaked. “Thanks.”
We loaded them up and sent them on their way.
“Tell me,” Tex asked once we were walking back toward the bar. “Is your only goal to see how far you can push Chase before he kills you in your sleep?”

“Beautiful Failure” – Mariah Cole – Tour/Review & Giveaway

Title: Beautiful Failure
Author: Mariah Cole
Genre: New Adult
Publication Date:December 17, 2013

If you’re looking for a heartwarming story about a girl who falls deeply in love with a troubled boy who changes her life–a sob story with pretty metaphors and a million ways that’ll tell you how “broken” she is, STOP. Don’t read another word of this.

I’m not that type of girl.

My name is Emerald Anderson and I’m not going to bullshit you: I flunked out of college after my sophomore year, I’ve been fired from every job I’ve ever taken, and I’ve never had a fully functioning relationship in my life.

I wish I could say that I had a cheerleader in my corner, someone who says, “No, Emerald–You’re great and you are good at something!” but I don’t. My grandparents are completely oblivious to my life, and my mother’s dying words to me were “You’re going to end up just like me one day. A beautiful nothing.”

She was right.

As I decide to start my life over and take two jobs that will forever change me–one from the inside, and one from the outside, I keep my mother’s words close to my heart so I can keep the sexy and mysterious Carter Black away.

He’s the first man who’s ever pursued me, the first man who seems bent on finding out why I am the way I am, but he’s wasting his time.

I’m not broken. I don’t need to be fixed. I’m perfectly fine being a beautiful failure…

3 1/2 stars – Kellie
This book was different than what I thought it was going to be from the blurb.

Basically Emerald has led a pretty shitty life.
Well she thought it was pretty cool until she gets old enough to realise that the things her Mum taught her weren’t what everyone else’s taught them.

Instead of how to braid your hair, to cook, homework etc.
Emerald was learning about drinking and drugs and sex.
and appearances.

Men only cared about what you looked like and men were what made the world turn.

There was some pretty steamy scenes in here, but also some cliche type moments.
I became frustrated several times as by 50% we’d only seen the heroine a total of maybe 4 times?

It started off pretty good, then slowed in the middle for a little while then picked up again.

I wanted to smack the heroine silly for being a douche at times.
I need to connect to the heroine and I just didn’t.

Carter though? I like them ^_^

I want to try and keep as much of it a secret as possible but I will say that it has a FREAKING CLIFFHANGER!
I had no idea there was going to be one!

So will I be reading the second book. Yes yes I think I will. After all I do need to know what is ging to happen. (Although I have a pretty good idea)

Summary

Falling in love is easy. Staying in love is hard. In this heart-pounding follow-up to Tangled by New York Times bestseller Emma Chase, Kate reveals that there is trouble in paradise, when unexpected circumstances force her and Drew to “renegotiate” their relationship.

There are two kinds of people in the world. The ones who look first, and the ones who leap. I’ve always been more of a looker. Cautious. A planner. That changed after I met Drew Evans. He was so persistent. So sure of himself—and of me.

But not all love stories end happily ever after. Did you think Drew and I were going to ride off into the sunset? Join the club. Now I have to make a choice; the most important of my life. Drew already made hisin fact, he tried to decide for the both of us. But you know that’s just not my style. So I came back to Greenville, Ohio, alone. Well, sort of alone…

What I’ve come to realize is that old habits die hard, and sometimes you have to go back to where you began before you can move ahead.

**End of the Innocence** -Alessandra Torre Blog Tour

end of the innocense

Synopsis

He thought I owned him. He thought he loved me, that I was enough. But this animal, this sex god who could drive me crazy and steal my heart in the same breath, he would never be fully mine. It was impossible. No one ever owns a God.

One year. I have one year to find out more about this man I am marrying. More about his family. More about our sex, and all of the dirty, delicious places it will take me.

I thought I’d spend this year making a decision. I never thought the decision would be taken from me, snatched right from my naive little hands.

I straddled Brad’s body, and he leaned back into the sectional, his eyes drugged with arousal, watching me, the line of his mouth barely affected by the smile that lay there. He ran his hands freely over the front of my dress, dipping inside my low and loose neckline and cupping each breast in turn. “God, you are beautiful.”

I said nothing, only gently moved against him, feeling a slight vibration run through us as the bass rocked a particularly loud note. I could feel the energy of the club, the muted hum of music, of a thousand bodies of barely-contained madness—dancing, kissing, falling in love—underneath us.

 “Kiss me,” he commanded.
I shook my head with a smile. “No. Keep touching me.”

A second hand joined his first, both palms sweeping up and cradling my breasts, the pull of the fabric joined with the rough skin of his palms temptingly perfect. He growled, low in his throat. “Like this?” He squeezed, a little rougher on my nipples, my breath catching.

 “Yeah.”

“Then kiss me.” He bucked up with his hips, throwing me forward, his upper body lifting, his mouth looking for mine, but I turned my head, gave him my neck, giggling when he nipped it.

“Not yet,” I whispered. “I’m not going to kiss you until his cock is deep inside of me.”

His hands tightened on me, and he groaned my name as he tore at the straps of my dress, pulling the fabric from me, a shiver running through me as my upper body was exposed.

There was a click of a door handle, and my breath caught as I looked up, seeing the black door swing open, a tall suit of gorgeous stepping inside, a phone at his ear, our eyes catching onto and holding each other.

I’m basically going to say what I did and didn’t like as I don’t want to give any spoilers away. As a few things do happen in this book.

This book sealed my love for Brad. In the first book he is meh. A hot older dominant guy, that liked to play.
The second book he comes out of his shell a bit more.
But in this one? He is more open. Tells Julia everything, and just the little things he says and does make you fall for him even more. Basically he’s not such an asshole lol

Brad De Luca – What the hell is not to love about the guy? He looks and fucks like a god. He’s rich, He’s cocky, He’s funny, yes he is older but he knows what he wants and doesn’t stop till he gets it.

Heroine Julia Campbell really came into her own skin in this book.

One of the things that I really liked about these books was that although Brad sounds like every other male out there, he was NOT possessive!

We knew the reason that he was a swinger, but not ONCE did we not know how he felt about Julia.
It wasn’t a justification to cheat and have sex with strangers, we were there in Alessandra’s beautifully written words and felt the energy and chemistry coming off both characters while they were with other people.
I have read many threesome books before where there is always a couple and they invite someone in and things get messy or whatever, but the third person just left them in their own little Brad and Julia bubble and things just went back to normal with them reassuring each other with declarations of love.
I LOVED IT!

The mafia is still present in this book but that’s all I say as don’t want to ruin it.

I will say though that I did not like the supposed BFF in this book Olivia. She turned into a downright nasty bitch and if I was Olivia I would have cut her off.

We get a HEA that made me happy. Some people not so much so for a bonus scene head to http://www.alessandratorre.com/bradandjuliaHEA/

So all in all I’m a Alessandra Torre fan and will read whatever she puts out next even if she has said goodbye to the edible Brad DeLuca and won’t “share” him with us anymore!

SNEAK PEEK

Alexis

Not many people were in the gym, but my eyes were immediately drawn to Ryder anyway, so the place could’ve been empty as far as I was concerned. His flexing muscular body, his sharp jabbing movements, and his excellent form paralyzed me.

I gaped at him as if in a helpless trance. I couldn’t get my feet to move toward the exit. His dark hair was drenched with sweat. His muscles tightened and strained as he slammed his fist into the huge bag over and over again.

How does he manage to be even more appealing while violently mashing a bag and sweating profusely?

He’d grown a little dark scruffy hair on his strong jaw overnight. His tanned skin looked so smooth and enticing. I wanted to run my hands over the ridged valley of his abdomen, and feel the warmth of his skin under my tongue. He was the perfect recipe for disaster, and I was aching to be destroyed by him.

His muscles were tightly cut everywhere, and I wondered just how well shaped he’d be under those shorts. As if on cue to my ogling him, he stopped hitting the bag, and turned his head toward me. A wild rush of heat flowed through my body as he smiled at me.

Oh, shit.

He knew I’d been checking him out. No-I’d been standing there practically fucking him with my eyes.

He nodded his head toward the door, ordering me to come into the gym. Damn, I wished I hadn’t let my hormones rule me, and made the quick escape I’d planned. I’d spent way more time than sane smelling his pillow this morning, imagining what it would be like waking next to him. I could already feel my common sense leaving me as I approached the door and met him halfway across the room.

He stopped in front of me, crowding me with his big body. I could feel the energy radiating off his skin. Maybe it was all the testosterone in the room that had me feeling so dazed. It had to be caused by something more than his cocky smile and sparkling baby blues.

He bit his lower lip, his eyes traveling over my dress, making me feel naked. My nipples pebbled as though he’d caressed them with more than a hungry gaze.

Ryder

It was her.

She gazed at me with those bright hazel eyes, and I was thrown back the night she’d opened them and looked at me like I was everything she needed.

The look she gave me now was different. Her gaze was predatory and hungry. Her lip parted in a really quiet gasp as she stopped to stare at me.

Fuck, why was she looking at me like that?

She had changed. Gone was the pale faced, frail girl who was strapped to the hospital bed. My gaze traveled over her tight shirt and tiny little sleep shorts.

Perfect perky tits.

Small little waist.

Smooth creamy legs.

If I had a checklist, it would take me days to check off each part of her I would’ve liked to lick. Then I’d pull those long silky legs around my waist and…

Look away, Hayes. You don’t need to get a hard-on in your dad’s kitchen for his step daughter.

She yanked her too short shirt down in an effort to cover her exposed navel ring. Pulling it down over that smooth expanse of skin only pressed the shirt tighter against her chest, and my gaze shot up to her pebbled nipples.

Fuck this.

I needed to get out of there-and quickly. I’d never wanted a woman as much as I wanted to take this one. It had always been this way with Lexi, but it had definitely increased in intensity. I almost didn’t give a fuck David was in the room. I wanted to push her against a wall and make her beg me for it.

Women didn’t usually affect me this way. Being a fighter kept me too busy to think about women, but Alexis always had a way of distracting me. Don’t get me wrong I liked to fuck. And often. But the shit she was stirring inside me was not something I was used to. Avoiding her attempts to push her way into my life had been a good decision. I always had a soft spot for Alexis and now it was mixed in with full-blown lust.

“Take a deep breath,” he moved on without comment, “duck ye head under the water, and exhale through ye nose. When ye run outta air, pop ye head back up.” I bit my lip and nodded, but I was less than confident.
“But, what if, what if the water goes up my nose?” I whispered. I sounded like a small child, but I was too panicked to care.
“Hold ye nose, love. Like this.” He pinched his nose and dropped under. It was silly, but I gasped. A second later he reappeared, shaking his head like a dog, spraying water all over me.  I smiled as I tried to hide from the spray. He seemed to know just how to diffuse me. It was bizarre, to say the least, but I was a little grateful.
“Yer turn. Do you need me to hold ye hand?” And sweet Drew was gone. He was back to his usual self.
I scoffed at that offer. “No.” But it might have been nice.
“One. Two.” I pinched my nose, and my pulse beat a million miles per minute. “Three!”
And I was under.
Oh God, oh God, breathe, no, don’t breathe, just … don’t breathe.
So I counted. I counted to ten and that was enough. I broke the surface, and gasped for breathe.
“Ye did good. Just next time, breathe first, aye?” Oh, yeah.
“Yeah, okay. Now what?”
“Now ye try holding yer breath for longer.”
“Really?”
“Aye. The fun comes later.”
I raised an eyebrow. The boys had clearly started to rub off on me. He smirked in return.
“How long can you hold your breath?”
“A while. Why? Ye want to challenge me?”
Do I? “Always.”
He smiled, and shook his head.
“One. Don’t forget to take a deep breath in. Three!” I sucked a huge breath in and we ducked under the cool water.
I watched a little in awe as tiny bibles left Drew’s nose. His hair sort of hovered in the water. He looked so beautiful that I found it easier to be still under the water just staring at him. He wiggled his eyebrows at me and it took all my strength not to laugh, expelling all my air. I did, however, poke my tongue out at him. It wasn’t the smartest thing to do, as when I pulled it back in it, tasted like manky seawater, and I wrinkled my face up in disgust. Surprisingly, I still managed to hold the little breath I had left in. Drew, however, lost all control at my tongue poking or face pulling, I wasn’t sure which, most likely both. He laughed heartily, expelling all his air in a great, big, gust, and had to go back up for air. I broke the surface to hear Drew coughing and spluttering.
“Ha! I won.” I’d be lying if it didn’t give me a little satisfaction that I sort-of won, by default but a win all the same.
“Ye’re a pisser. And ye didn’t win, ye cheated.”
“Oh, and you weren’t trying to cheat by wiggling your eyebrows at me? All’s fair in love and war, baby!”
“Which are we?” he asked softly, and my heart stuttered.
“Ah … definitely war.”

If it’s your happily ever after love story that you are looking for, you should probably move on. If you are up for the ride, stick around and it may just turn into a love story after all.

Morgan starts her life in a bad situation, she doesn’t really know what she wants out of life. She’s never had anyone to look up to, or help guide her in the right direction. She had it rough, and never dreamed that it could get worse, however she finds that it can, and does.

She learns what real hell is when she meets the husband that she doesn’t want to marry, but isn’t given a choice. Can she escape? She can, and does only to wake up and find herself right back at square one

Well. WHOA! It was more than nice!

While this Novel is LOOONNNGGG I REALLY LIKED IT.. Well most of it…
As always before I read a dark erotica I feel like

Ok here I go. I’ll try not to give too much away..
The first say 50-60/65% book was a great read.

I hated the Anti-Hero. Drew. And Dawson was… well a typical hero.

We are thrown into the story as Riley is driving to Misty Bay, Maine.
Where she starts a new life, working for the first time ever.
She makes friends and even finds herself a boyfriend. The towns Sherriff, Dawson Cade.

But shes running… Always looking over her shoulder? From what you ask?

Well she tells us in a past/present tense throughout the story.
Morgan Willow had a shit life.
Her brother was taken off her parents and out into the foster care system.
Her Mum abandoned her.
Her Dad was a drunk who beat her.
And on her 18th birthday sold her for $30,000 to a man named Drew Kelley.

Who whisked her away to Las Vegas, immediately married her making her Morgan Kelley and moved her into his mansion.

Surrounded by maids, waited on hand and foot, never having to lift a finger except which designer gown to wear to the newest party? Sounds like a dream right?

Drew is a monster.
Sexually and physically.

Out in the world? He is the doting husband.
In behind closed doors? Not so much…

Morgan’s body craves it though. She likes the things he does to her (NOT the beating the crap out her parts though. The sexual parts)

She wakes up in the middle of the night from nightmares of Drew but masturbating while screaming and crying.

As much as she begs Dawson to do things to her he won’t. He loves her too much.

The storyline seems to go fast up to this point.
And then we find out why…

Morgan has to go back to Las Vegas for work.

While there…
Something happens…

 photo suddenlyanover_zps4200721a.jpg

And Drew is there…
But not the Drew we know.. the one we want to go

 photo wrongness_zps9157a7ae.gif

This one we kinda wanna go…
 photo love_zps353bc39b.gif

BUT THEN
There’s Dawson and Maine…

And the Heroine Morgan/Riley pisses you right off so much…

This is the part that knocked the rating down for me…
It just went on FOR EVER!
 photo bullshit_zps208154fa.gif

It could have easily been condensed and a lot of things that happened didn’t need to happen. And you’re just wondering

Only read the spoiler if you read this book.. as It will ruin it for you.
Like Super Mom all of a sudden?the best mum in the whole entire world who left her daughter? for money? The constant back and forward? Massive time gaps.. The six weeks apart, the 2 weeks apart., the I need space.. then not actually doing anything in that space?!
Dawson fucking Lauren… get my point.

So would I recommend this book? Yeah I think I will.

Does it have a cliffhanger? No – But I have heard there is a 2nd book… but this is a standalone. 2nd is a continuation.

HEA? – Not telling… read it yourself and find out..

Writing is more than a passion for me. I write adult books, romance and erotica. I did recently try my hand at a young adult romance, but because of the gutter that my mind seems to fall into. It quickly went into rated R mode. I reside in Ohio. I love living in Ohio, except maybe the cold winters, and the snow, well maybe the hot summers too. Ah hell, I hate Ohio.

I love to push my limits in writing, fuel the senses and emotions of my readers. I have some great supporters and love them all dearly.

(Book #1)

Releasing April 7, 2014

 photo goodreadspurple1_zpsab2bdb71.png
The last thing I remember is having drinks at Brady’s and trying to avoid eye-contact with my life-long crush—the gorgeous, unattainable Maximilian Hallowell. They tell me that was a year ago, but I have no memories of anything since then. What I do have is this ring on my finger that Max says he gave me, and this much-thinner body I’ve dreamed of most of my life. Aside from a case of retrograde amnesia, everything seems almost…perfect.

But the deeper I immerse myself into this new world of mine—planning a wedding to a man I don’t remember dating, attempting to run a business I don’t remember starting—the clearer it becomes that nothing is as it seems. Do I have the life I’ve always wanted or is it a facade propped up by secrets I don’t even know I have?

I need answers before I marry Max, and the only person who seems to have them is the angry, tatted, sexy-as-sin rocker Nate Crane. And Nate wants me for himself.

About the Author

Once a college English professor, I now write full time. I live in rural Indiana, where, when I’m not writing, I get to hang out with my husband and two kids–a six-year-old boy and a two-year-old hellion, er, girl. Not surprisingly, reading and writing remain my favorite activities, though both come in bits and pieces these days, not the big hunks of time I enjoyed before I had children. When I’m feeling virtuous, I like to go running (I use that word liberally. I’m really, really slow) or do yoga. Don’t worry, I’m always careful to balance out such activities with a hearty serving of ice cream or a chocolate martini.
